This year’s U4 Summer School “Ageing Brain” was hosted by the University of Göttingen from 31 August till 5 September.
Within the U4 Research Network “Ageing Brain”, the Universities of Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen and Uppsala bundle research activities focusing on changes in the ageing brain with a special emphasis on neurodegenerative processes.
Within the cooperation, joint supervisions of dissertations are encouraged in order to enable young qualified researchers to gain practical international experience at early stages of their career. The Summer School “Ageing Brain” aims to encourage interaction of funded projects while simultaneously serving a platform for the presentation of their results.
Key element of the Summer School is an ambitious program with numerous lectures by internationally renowned scientists. This year, on four different days, lectures covered topics surrounding the following areas: “From Molecules to Brain Disorder”, “Neurodegeneration”, “Alzheimer’s Disease” and “Neuroimmunology”. Beside these topics this Summer School included a soft skills workshop and student debates on scientific questions.
In 2015, the successful U4 Summer School will be hosted by Uppsala.
